Healthcare Marketing as Community Building Dan Dunlop
The marketing generated by most healthcare organizations has been, and continues to be, inwardly focused. We spend a lot of time talking about ourselves, our organizations, our products, our technology and our services. There is little regard given to how this resonates (or doesn’t resonate) with the potential customer. Consumers today live in a world where effective marketing doesn’t happen to them; rather, if done right, they are participants in the marketing. Capturing consumers’ attention by simply spewing content in their direction is nearly impossible and an extremely expensive proposition. To be effective, we need to make the consumer an active participant in the marketing. That is best accomplished when the marketer adopts a “community building” mindset. During this workshop, you’ll learn why, as healthcare marketers and communicators, we need to transition from pushers of content to facilitators of important conversations and creators of safe environments where consumers can have important conversations about health and access quality health information.
Reaching Customers in the Digital Landscape: Social Media and Beyond Jill Schiefelbein
This isn’t just another session about social media, from a speaker telling you that you need to be on it to get new business. Instead, this is a session about how consumer behavior has changed in light of all of our digital communication and how business owners can capitalize on these changed behaviors. The way we search for information has fundamentally changed. Jill will dive into these changes, address the role that digital and social communication channels can play in a growing business, and provide a roadmap for creating a version of digital and social strategy that is right for your individual business. Key takeaways:
Understand fundamental shifts in consumer search and buying behavior
Gain digital strategies that your business can immediately implement
Decide what, if any, social media channels are right for your business

Keynote: From Burnout – Back to Brilliance: What My Cancer Taught Me About Your Joy at Work
There is no doubt that the stress-related mental, physical and emotional impact of dealing with cancer survivors and customers overcoming severe health challenges is debilitating – if left unaddressed. These stressors, and others associated with being a business owner, can negatively impact your ability to offer mental, emotional and spiritual support for your customers and staff – and your profitability. During this keynote, Lee has four main goals:
To remind you of the healing and deeply comforting impact you can have on the lives and health of your customers by being your most compassionate self when you deal with them.
To share the absolute necessity of effectively dealing with the debilitating “burn-out” inducing stress that can accumulate over time in you and your employees’ lives if that inevitable stress is not resolved healthily.
Provide you with proven techniques I discovered in my own recovery from “burn-out.”
To inspire you to give yourself the “gift” of compassion and put your own health first – so you can be your very best self in order to provide the very best care for your customers and staff.
People, like you, who deal regularly with patients – or supervise those who do – need to be reminded about the immense power you have to mentally, emotionally, spiritually and medically improve the lives and health of your customers. It’s not just about being nice or simply giving great customer service to make more profits. It’s about recognizing that in every moment you are in the presence of another human being, you have the opportunity to positively impact their ability to overcome their health challenges and live happier, healthier, more fulfilled lives. And, that is a true gift.
