A panel of therapists, retailers and Carmen Anderson will dive into frequently asked questions around Medicare billing, documentation and reimbursement. They’ll share their experiences, lessons learned and best practices. There will be ample time to field questions from the audience.

There are limited research studies available that on the role of nutrition for lymphatics, but the trials that are available give insight into how nutrition can aid those with lymphedema. Registered Dietitian Jean LaMantia will share the research as well as her experience in working with lymphedema and the successful outcomes that her clients have achieved by implementing evidence-informed nutrition strategies.
Kayte Forester, PT, DPT, OCS, CLT will cover best practices for implementing Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) to treat patients within the private sector.

Yoav Dori, MD, will address central lymphatic (thoracic duct) dysfunction in special patient populations. He’ll explain the signs and symptoms of internal lymphatic issues in children to help therapists understand when to refer pediatric patients to an interventional radiologist. He’ll also explain the possibilities and limitations of treating central dysfunction in adult patients with obesity-associated or obesity-induced lymphedema.
Eva Sevick-Muraca, PhD, will discuss how near-infrared fluorescence lymphatic imaging (NIRF-LI) with iCG is bringing “to light” the role of lymphatic dysfunction in many common chronic conditions. While NIRF-LI diagnostics of rare lymphatic disease and cancer-acquired lymphedema continue to advance our understanding that leads to better treatment, they also point to the role of lymphatic dysfunction in overall health. Eva will discuss where NIRF-LI fills in the gaps for diagnosing lymphatic dysfunction and present the latest developments and discoveries made with the technology.

Linda Hodgkins, MS, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, will continue the DVT discussion explaining best practices for patient care, citing case studies and new research that supports the use of compression in the acute phase of DVT to manage pain and swelling, and promote early mobilization.

Representatives from Juzo and Tactile Medical will explain how to successfully select products and garments to produce better patient outcomes based on disease state. Through live demonstrations with patients, they will cover how to properly measure and fit for compression garments and pneumatic compression devices and highlight clinical tools to help manage edema.
Guenter Klose, CLT-LANA, and Linda Roherty, CLT-LANA, will exemplify the power of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). There is no universal agreement about the most effective technique of MLD, however if applied with intent and purpose, and by incorporating the latest ICG research findings, MLD is a powerful tool in the decongestion for patients with lymphedema.
Joshua Trock, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, will guide you through basic movement assessment and exercise testing to help you develop a quality exercise program that will deliver results for your lymphedema patients.
Lauren Brown, MSOT, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, will share her vast experience and special considerations when treating small children with primary lymphedema and lymphatic dysplasia. This interactive workshop will prepare any CLT to treat this special patient population, even if you are not specifically trained in the treatment of pediatrics.
Joy Macheel, PT, DPT, CLT-CWS, and Jan Weiss, PT, DPT, CLT, will provide up-to-date, practical and cost-effective strategies to help non-wound specialists manage wounds in patients with lymphedema and chronic venous insufficiency. They also will share their extensive experience in treating wounds in patients with lower extremity multifactorial edema and lymphedema. The workshop will offer a “basic recipe” for wound management, covering wound cleansing, debridement approaches and selecting appropriate dressings to maintain a moisture-balanced environment, which can then be adapted to each patient’s unique needs.
